Mechanical Engineering senior at the University of California, Berkeley. Several years of student housing and internship apartments, including a stint at Rivian — places with no closet, a shared kitchen, and a lease prohibiting permanent modifications. Those constraints are the reason this site exists.
Method
- Dimensional verification. Every measurement is traced to the manufacturer's own specification document, with the date it was read.
- Load and thermal analysis. Shelf deflection under rated load, rod sag over span, compressor capacity against room temperature, and cubic feet against counter footprint. These are the numbers that decide whether something works in a small space, and they are almost never in a review.
- Owner reports at volume. r/malelivingspace, r/apartmentliving, r/smallapartments and r/organization, read for month-eight failures rather than week-one impressions.
What has actually been used
Most products covered on this site have not been personally owned. Where that is the case the page says so, and the analysis is presented as what it is: specification review and aggregated owner data.
Where a product has genuinely been lived with, the page uses first person and says how long. That distinction is enforced by the site's build process, not left to memory — a page cannot claim personal use of a product that is not on the owned list.
Independence
No free product is accepted in exchange for coverage, and no manufacturer has paid for placement or a rating. The site earns through affiliate links, which are disclosed above the first link on any page that carries one. Full policy:affiliate disclosure.
